You should be able to measure about 0.6 to 0.7 ohms between any 2 of those wires in 3 different combination's. Your sled will covert all it's power to DC voltage, where most of the others sleds run off AC voltage.

I don't know how different the 98 300 is compare to the 2000 500 models, but I'm guessing that testing the stator is pretty much the same.
