The primary thing I think was they reduced the amount of the carry melt treatment a little. The basic difference between Series II and pre-series II (like yours) is the Series II guns have a Swartz firing pin safety.

The Kimpro will protect against corrosion better than the bluing. Also, if you like all black and all steel, the Super Carry Ultra HD is another option. Other than that they are very much similar.
